CKC Means Community
What is Project CKC? Well, I’m glad you asked, Let me take you back a few years on my journey.
As many of you know, 2015 was a life changing year for me. I lost my father on April 25th after his battle with cancer came to an end. A.T.- as many of you called him was originally diagnosed with lung cancer on January 3rd, 2013. He would go on to beat a brain tumor but eventually succumbed to the disease when the cancer spread throughout his body and into his bones.
Watching someone you love go through this is gut wrenching. I know that many of you reading this right now have also painfully experienced the same type of loss I am describing. You have witnessed the healthy body of an active person turn into bones constrained to a bed. You have seen the outline of that familiar face become so frail and sunken. It literally takes your breath away to experience this transition. In addition to the pain your loved one is trying to manage, they also go through various changes that are physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially draining. There are treatments, medical bills, and prescriptions, to name just a few of the types of expenses that cancer patients deal with, while on limited or no income. But what if you can make a difference? What if in this one area of their life you were able to be the one to provide some relief? It’s as simple as purchasing Project CKC apparel. If you purchase apparel through Project CKC a contributed donation is made on your behalf to cancer patients to help with some of the financial problems outlined above. And it even goes beyond that. We would like to introduce a new concept to you as well. While we are all familiar with cancer ribbons and their symbolism, we have a new image that contains imagery of strength, bravery, courage, and faith. No, clothing cannot in fact kill cancer… But it can kill some of the negativity associated with it. It can lead to a solution to some of the financial burdens our loved ones are facing. It can lift spirits and promote positivity. It can help others to feel strong and uplifted. Our image of the angelic warrior spreads a message of perseverance and was created in honor and memory for those who have put their shields down and fight no longer. This image is to be worn in admiration for those warriors and also those who are continuing to fight. We hope you embrace this image and concept in the same manner we have grown to love.
